MH17 investigators will suspend their investigations without further prosecution: source

AMSTERDAM8 Feb – The international team investigating the 2014 shooting down of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 (MH17) will halt its inquiry without further prosecution as it does not have sufficient evidence to bring further cases to trial, a source close to the investigation said on Wednesday.

The Joint Investigation Team is scheduled to announce its decision at a press conference on Wednesday starting at 1200 GMT.

In November, a Dutch court convicted two former Russian intelligence agents and a Ukrainian separatist leader of murder for helping organize the Russian missile system that was used to bring down the plane, killing 298 passengers and crew. The three men, tried in absentia, remain at large.
