A five-year-old girl was found dead in a bag in an apartment in Rambervillers, eastern France, on Tuesday, and a 16-year-old boy was arrested.
The mother of the family had recently reported the disappearance of her daughter.
“I am destroyed,” the girl’s mother said Wednesday morning.
“It’s too painful, it won’t pass,” said the black-haired woman, speaking in tears to reporters outside her home in a town of 5,000 people.
A teenager, aged 15 or 16 according to the mayor of the city, was arrested. According to the local daily Vosges Matin, the young man suffered from psychiatric disorders and was released “a few weeks ago” from a specialized structure.
“They say that two weeks ago he was locked up in a psychiatric hospital. Why did they let him out?” the victim’s mother protested.
“I want justice to be done and that we no longer leave the sick outside, because they don’t destroy a single life, they destroy the life of the whole family,” added this woman of Romanian origin.
“They destroyed my life, all my memories with my daughter, all my plans, they took everything away from me,” she added. “They kidnapped my little princess.”
“I don’t want people like that outside anymore.”
She confirmed that she had alerted the police on Tuesday in the early afternoon after noticing the disappearance of her child, who was playing in front of the house.
According to a source close to the investigation, the teenager was arrested in the apartment where the body of the girl was found.
